We have to let the boy leave or he will go crazy here

Then there was the possibility of one class after another getting out with the Yavneh School. The question was this: my mother always said we would go together; we would not separate the family. I was already fifteen-and-a-half, and every day I got more and more frightened about the whole situation. I said to myself, I have to get out, I have to get out. She kept saying, “No, no, we will stay together.” I went on at my parents for so long that one day...I heard it through the door. My mother said to my father, “I believe we have got to let the boy leave or he will go crazy here.” And then they gave permission for me to be able to go to England on my own with my class.
