We’re not leaving Europe, if at all possible
In 1937 my father went to Palestine and had a look round over there. He had relatives there who wanted to give him a job in the lemon and orange orchards. They already had a fairly big piece of land and wanted to extend it. He came back and said, “I think that would be lovely for us all.” And then my mother and I were against it. “No, we want to go to Europe.” That was pretty stupid of us, but we were stupid. No, no, no, we’re not leaving Europe; if at all possible, let’s try to go to England, please, please.
