Yes, I’ll join the army
In London, I always met up with my siblings, but during the war my sister was elsewhere and I was in the army. I didn’t volunteer, they called me up. I was 18 or 19. When they called me up, I said, “Yes, I’ll join the army.” So I was there for three years. I learnt how to drive in a big camp. I was driving military boxes around; I don’t know what was in them, probably weapons.
