T O Y T R A I N S E T
I had so many toys, a castle and so on, but took nothing with me, only my clothes. And I always told our son about Märklin [German equivalent of Hornby, translator’s note]. We only had the very best in our family. And then for my 80th birthday he asked, „What do you want for your birthday, dad?“ I said, „Listen, I’ve got pretty much everything I want.” And then a big box arrived, the morning of my 80th birthday. And what was it? Have a guess. It was an electric train set.
Yes, it used to be in the living room but as usual with things like that, the room was too small. Then I thought I’d put it in the garage which, of course, I had to clear out. But we got there in the end. I still play with it from time to time, even when people come, youngsters too, they are all so delighted. They want to join in a bit. There is always plenty to do; I am always busy with all kinds of things.
