   The Lenkowitzes were very rich. They lived in a wonderful apartment in Mozartstraße and I always really loved going there. Inge had her own bedroom and bathroom, and the living room was gigantic. There was always a huge bowl of fruit there. At home we had only had a small bowl of fruit, we weren’t very well off, but at Inge’s, you could help yourself, and that was wonderful. We did a lot of cycling and we did roller-skating too. I had a good life and I just ignored those signs saying ‘Jews and dogs are not allowed in here‘.
