K I N D E R T R A N S P O R T
I had a suitcase and my guitar, which was not taken away from me. We did the crossing overnight. I can’t remember it particularly well, but when we arrived in Liverpool Street Station, I remember very clearly getting off the train and then standing in twos near the train, and then a policeman came past us and I will never forget how he said, “I believe you are the last one.” I believed that for many years and then I heard that it was not the case, that there was another train after us. That was on 24th August and war broke out, I believe, on 6th September. There was another last one behind us.
