I got married in 1949

My first wife was taken in 1944 from Hungary to Auschwitz. She was 13 years old and she was working for the Germans in the munitions factories. That probably saved her life, because she was useful to them. She came to Great Britain in 1945. Her brother lived in Hampstead in the same place as I did and she came there and that's how I met her. I got married to her in 1949. We had three children but, unfortunately, I lost one daughter. She was my eldest daughter. She died in 1963, she was twelve years old. I thank God I got two other daughters. They live in Israel, both married, and I got six grandchildren.

When my late wife died in 1985, a year after my second daughter got married, it was a big shock for me. Not only losing my parents and sister, but also losing wife and daughter. It hasn't been easy.
