We manufactured ladys' hats
Wir hatten eine Damenhutfabrik in Schildergasse. [We had a ladies’ hat factory in the Schildergasse], is there still Schildergasse? We were Damenhut Gebrüder Walter and Company [Damenhut Brothers Walter and Company]. We manufactured ladies' hats. Mein Vater und sein Bruder were [commercial] travellers, they travelled for the firm. And of course, Hitler took it away in 1938 and I didn't get enough compensation. I got money, but not what I should have got from the Germans, you know.
