We will travel to Düsseldorf to see your 'Stolpersteine'
... for he said in his letter to me that his father was a Nazi and died in the war, and then my son said to me, “Wait a moment, before you say no to Mr D, think about it: if you say yes and allow him to do it and he wants to pay for it with his sister, then you will make his life a bit easier. That way you can absolve him from some of the guilt.” And I thought, yes, it would be a good idea. So that’s what he did and the stones are now set in front of my former apartment at 5 Hermannstraße in Düsseldorf. Then it was my 80th birthday and I didn’t want to have a party. So my son said, “I’ve got an idea, we will travel to Düsseldorf to see your ‘Stolpersteine’.” My daughter, he and I went, and that was such a good idea. I would not have done it on my own, but together we made it. I have pictures of it all. Mr D was also there.
