Rudi Stern

His whole class arrived in England, they were there for a while and were then interned up somewhere near Liverpool, and sent off from there to Australia. They were interned there but could continue their studies. I heard from him by letter and then I heard nothing more, but afterwards learnt that he volunteered to join the English army; whether I had anything to do with this, or could have done, I don’t know, but I do know that the ship was torpedoed and he went down with it. End of story. That was Rudi Stern.
