   That's how we kept away from the worst excesses of the Kristallnacht. That time I remember very well. After that, my father lost his job. Up to then, his firm was allowed to go on but after that we left as soon as we could. His firm was called "Redlich", it's a small slipper manufacturers and they exported most of their stuff. Because of that, they were allowed to carry on. But after Kristallnacht it was closed.
